It's Happening...

Thursday was Carter's meet-and-greet for Kindergarten.  We finally had a chance to meet his teacher, see his room, and drop off his supplies.  I was working so I had to cut out for a bit to grab him from daycare and drive two minutes down the road to school.  He was ready!

For some reason he wanted to pose by the bike rack...but I think it's safe to say he doesn't have modeling in his future...

 

Since we don't really get to go to school on the first day, I figured I'd get this picture now.  Well, we could go to school, but we can't go in the school anyway and it's better to try the bus on the first day if possible, since it's everyone's first day and that's the best time to get acclimated, when everyone is clueless.  We're still trying to convince Jacob to go with him on the bus, for all of the five minutes before it gets around the corner to Jacob's school, but we're getting a lot of push back.  Ugh.

We had to go in and do a little scavenger hunt around the room to check out the different areas and find the spots with his name.  We dropped off his supplies, talked with the teacher, and hung up his first homework assignment that he did all by himself!  He even cut it out!

It went pretty well.  Carter had moments of being shy and overly silly, but it was fine.  His teacher is super nice and I gave her the backstory on why he ended up in her class (which she totally understood and said she had a similar situation with her own son).  I think it will be a good spot for him, for so many reasons, and now it's just a matter of days before it's the real deal!  Jacob's meet-and-greet is Wednesday.  I can't believe it's his last year in that school!

Anyway, Thursday ended with this gorgeous sunset.  I had to take a break from washing dishes so I could get a picture of the perfect cotton candy clouds!

It was a nice way to end my 39th year, but it's hard to believe we're now past my birthday and Labor Day weekend is here.  How is summer done already?  There are still good things to come, but it's a bummer to know that our warm days and summer adventures are heading toward their conclusion for this year.  I love fall, but I don't love what comes after it!  I guess for now I just have to focus on apple/pumpkin spice season, our annual trip to the pumpkin farm, Halloween, and crisp 70 degree days...oh, and my big trip in less than two weeks!  But stay a little longer, summer...please?
